MONITORING AND FORECASTING OF SEASONAL RICE CROP PRODUCTIVITY FOR PADDY DOMINATED REGIONS OF INDIA

The Reservoir Assessment Tool (RAT) version 3.0 represents a scalable and customizable software based on hydrologic modeling and satellite remote sensing to monitor the reservoir's dynamic state. The architecture of RAT 3.0 has been designed in such a way that it requires minimal user input with additional flexibility added for the more advanced users. It is more robust and less susceptible to data gaps or instability that satellite remote sensing systems can sometimes experience.

Using entirely space-based data we explored how well can we predict the fast evolving dynamics of a flooding event in the mountainous region of Kerala during the 2018 disastrous floods. The tool, Reservoir Assessment Tool (RAT) was applied and found to have actionable accuracy in predicting the state of the Kerala reservoirs entirely from space to foster better coordinated management in future for reservoir operations.
